East Alstead Roasting Co. has collaborated with Jouvay Chocolate in Walpole, NH, to create a milk chocolate bar accented with our coffee. This creamy bar has a rich nuttiness with tinges of malt and caramel, and the coffee adds a piquant earthiness and a pleasant soft crunch. The current batch uses our Kibingo Oro dry natural process coffee from Burundi. Look for other editions in the future!
This chocolate, as with all Jouvay chocolate, was made at the Diamond Chocolate Factory in Grenada, West Indies. Jouvay is a partnership between the cocoa farmers of Grenada (represented by the Grenada Cocoa Association) and the Burdick family of Walpole, NH. The GCA is a farmer-elected cooperative that has long represented farmer interests, giving them tools and knowledge for farming and negotiating the best price for their beans internationally. The GCA represents the farmer’s 70% ownership of Jouvay Chocolate while the Burdick family contributes their chocolate making knowledge and connections, making up 30% ownership. The imported chocolate is made into bars and mixed with other goodies at the Walpole facility.
